It is with deep sorrow that we acknowledge the passing of David Joseph Grossman of Abilene, whose sudden death on May 28 has left his family, friends, and the wider university and ministry community in profound grief. His passing, described as the result of a sudden medical event while serving at an internship with the Abilene Hunger Coalition & Highland Food Pantry, has brought an overwhelming sense of loss to all who knew him.
David was just 21 years old, yet his life left a lasting and meaningful impact on many. He is being remembered as a young man full of faith, humor, and compassion—someone whose presence could brighten any room he entered. Those who knew him describe him as vibrant, deeply caring, and consistently attentive to others, always willing to listen, encourage, and bring comfort when it was needed most.
As a student and Bible and Ministry major at Abilene Christian University, David was actively involved in his faith community and was widely regarded as a person who lived out the values he believed in. Friends and peers recall moments of kindness and emotional depth that reflected his character—instances where he offered support to others in times of distress and demonstrated genuine empathy and love.
His family remembers him as a devoted son and brother whose life was rooted in faith and connection. He was deeply loved, and his absence has created an irreplaceable void in their lives. The grief felt by those closest to him is matched by the outpouring of tributes from classmates, friends, and members of the broader community who were touched by his life.
A celebration of life is planned, allowing loved ones to gather, share memories, and honor his legacy. In addition, a memorial scholarship has been established in his name at Abilene Christian University, intended to preserve his impact and support future students who share his commitment to faith and service:
David Grossman Memorial Scholarship
In moments of loss such as this, communities often turn to shared remembrance and support. The legacy David leaves behind is one of compassion, faith, and human connection—qualities that continue to resonate with those who knew him.
As his loved ones navigate this painful time, messages of sympathy and prayer continue to surround the Grossman family. May his memory be honored with dignity, and may those grieving find comfort in the love and support of their community.
