It is with profound sorrow that we announce the tragic passing of Matthew Neil Estes of Mt. Juliet, who lost his life in a car accident on Friday, May 29, 2026, at just 17 years old. His sudden passing has left his family, friends, and community devastated, as they mourn the loss of a young life filled with promise, warmth, and joy.

Born on August 29, 2008, in Hermitage, Matthew was the beloved son of Kenneth and Emily Estes. He was a loving brother, grandson, nephew, cousin, and friend—someone who brought light into every space he entered. Known for his bright smile and kind spirit, Matthew had a way of making others feel welcome and valued. He was often described as sweet, funny, and respectful, with a personality that drew people toward him.

Matthew had a passion for the outdoors and found joy in hunting and fishing, embracing the simple pleasures of life. He also took pride in helping others, whether through lending a hand with his truck or supporting friends in times of need. His willingness to serve and his generous nature made a lasting impression on everyone who knew him. In addition to his love for people, Matthew shared a special bond with his horse, Uno, and his dog, Coco—companions who were an important part of his life.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Charlotte Kampa; his paternal grandfather, Robert Estes; and his uncle, Wayne Estes. He is survived by his parents, Kenneth and Emily Estes; his brother, Jacob (McKenzie) Estes; his maternal grandfather, Clyde Gray; his paternal grandmother, Bonnie Estes; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins who will forever cherish his memory.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, June 3, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. at Bond Memorial Chapel, with Bro. Danny Tomlinson officiating. Visitation will take place from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service, with interment to follow at Vivrett, Graves, Brown & Estes Cemetery. Family members will serve as pallbearers, honoring Matthew with love and remembrance.

Matthew’s life, though far too short, was deeply meaningful. His memory will live on in the hearts of those who loved him. His story also serves as a solemn reminder of the importance of safety, as loved ones continue to encourage others to cherish every moment and take precautions that can save lives.
